Austin News Roundup

Lots of local action this winter and spring!

Merlin won second place – and $5,000 – in the second half of the RecognizeGood “Say Thanks, Austin” campaign. Thank you to the tens of thousands of you who made this possible by voting and sharing!

Merlin’s story continues to inspire. He’s appeared recently in a video produced by Austin Monthly magazine for Amplify Austin and in a segment by Spectrum 1 News. While filming the news story, the bats seemed to know they needed to show off, surprising us with a lovely emergence at the bridge, despite the recent weather fluctuations. They also cooperated during our spring member appreciation night, treating MTBC members from 10 US states to a three-column emergence shortly after sundown.

Teresa Nichta and Troy Swift gave a presentation on bats and bat houses for the Lumber Society at Buzz Mill, which caught a feature on KXAN.

If you’d like to join us in Austin, our next member cruise will be August 14th and a public Merlin Tuttle Day celebration cruise on the 21st. Partner, Cornerstone, and Leadership members receive first-priority bookings for these special nights. Space is limited and on a first come, first served basis. Don’t miss out – become a member to receive invitations and updates!

Watch a 56-second video of Merlin at 2023 SXSW events!
